The vast majority of internet marketers fail and by that I mean fail to earn a profit. Many quit or struggle for years before experiencing monetary success. Here are the 3 top reasons, although I'm sure we could find many more to why there is such a high failure rate. Hopefully, by recognizing and addressing these impediments, you can turn it around and begin to make money.
Lack of Skills/Knowledge/Tools
Yes, lack of one or more of these is a major contributing factor to marketer failure. Many internet marketers when they start out don't have an experienced guide or mentor to help them acquire the appropriate tools or education needed to get started. Like any new career, you need to acquire the right skills and knowledge to succeed. It takes time. This reason alone causes most internet marketers to quit before ever giving it a fair chance.
Information Overload
Even if you have a little skill, knowledge or tools it can still be overwhelming. Everyday, sometimes hourly, we get bombarded with new offers of tools, methods, programs, etc. which apparently render all previous versions useless. There is so much information and so many products that you can't possibly keep up with them all. This information overload sets the stage for "paralysis by analysis", which in turn leads to my third reason for failure
Lack of Action
Lack of action, even small steps initially, is the single biggest reason behind the high failure rate seen in the internet marketing profession. It's easy to avoid action while reading offers and articles or watching videos but these activities all have a call to action somewhere in them, but we fail to do it. Sometimes it might be hard to get started but nothing positive ever started on its own. An ice hockey scoring legend once said "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take". Stop with the excuses and start taking shots.
Conclusion
These are the top 3 of many reasons why many internet marketers fail to make any money. They can all be overcome with a change in attitude. You have to spend the time learning and researching the tools or products you are marketing. This is an ongoing process. Focus on your area of products or marketing channels and stop checking out every offer that presents itself. And finally, take action, massive action because failure to act is acting to fail.
